The TRB247 is Teltonika’s answer to the North American IoT gateway market. LTE Cat 1 bis is the optimised standard for US and Canadian cellular IoT – it uses a single antenna (versus two for standard Cat 1), which reduces hardware complexity while delivering 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink. These speeds are sufficient for most telemetry, SCADA and monitoring workloads.
The TRB247 carries the same interface set as the TRB246: Ethernet, RS232, RS485, configurable I/O and GPS. Dual SIM with optional eSIM and automatic failover ensures continuous operation across AT&T, T-Mobile and other US networks. Modbus, DNP3, DLMS, OPC UA and BACnet protocol support makes it immediately suitable for building automation, energy monitoring and industrial automation in North America.

Cat 1 bis is a 3GPP standard specifically designed for single-antenna IoT devices. Standard LTE Cat 1 requires two antennas for diversity reception. Cat 1 bis achieves comparable performance with one antenna, which matters for compact embedded designs. In the US and Canadian markets, Cat 1 bis is well supported across major networks and is the recommended standard for M2M and IoT devices that need more bandwidth than NB-IoT but do not need the throughput of Cat 4 or higher.
